Wait

I've been MIA but work has been so busy and I'm writing literally 26 reports so I'm writing a lot at work so I don't want to get when I get home. Sorrryyyyy

BUT some very exciting news has come up, and that news involves the Yeah Yeah Yeahs...if you look back to Ultimate Death Round: Top 3 Bands you will see that the Yeah Yeah Yeahs (YYYs) are one of my favorite bands. I love them so so so much, and I've always wanted to see them live but they've been basically on a hiatus for years so I never thought that would happen. They started surfacing a little bit lately with a new album coming up in April (Mosquito) and some teasers to promote it...THEN I learned that they are going on tour but no where near me, I was so upset.

UNTIL!! The day that SweetLife Festival which is super close in Columbia, Maryland announced its line-up with the YYYs!!!!!!!!!!!! I was driving in DC right by the Capitol where there is lots of important people and people in suits who are normal, and then I heard on the radio that the YYYs (along with pheonix, PASSION PIT and kendrick lamar and others) and I started screaming in my car along at a red light with lots of people at the intersection. Lets just say they thought I was so weird but I am so excited!! I bought tickets during the pre-sale and I just can't wait!!!!!!!

It's also important to note that SweetLife Festival was started by SweetGreen which is my FAVORITE salad place which started here in DC! They have the BEST salads (seriously) and frozen yogurt and EVERYTHING at their business is recycled and compostable, and they extended this philosophy into their music festival! Which i LOVEE LOVE LOVE because I love being green! I could talk about the sustainability aspects of SweetLife that I love FOREVER but this post is so long and I bet no one is reading anymore.

I'm posting a classic YYYs song. It took me a while to decide which one to post but I decided to go with a classic, I remember seeing this video on TRL back in like 2004.

This song was also named by Rolling Stone in the 'Best 500 songs of All Time' and has been featured in many other lists as one of the best songs ever (CAUSE IT IS)

I LOVE THE YEAH YEAH YEAHS!!!

They don't love you like I love you....

Alt-j tweeted me my life is complete!

Having a panic attack right now! I've tweeted so many people and I never get a response. I guess asking weird questions about what they wear gets a response. Good thing I'm a weirdo!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can't wait to see alt j at the goveners ball

Should i do it?

I'm thinking about getting a tattoo! what do you think?  Jeana came up with this excellent tally idea.  Add a new tally each year we go. Even though I'm 24 I asked my mom for permission and she said it was okay.  I mean I'm not trying to loose my trust fund and no ink is part of the contract.  We will have to find a way to work around that.  #trustfundproblems This year will be year number 4 so hard to believe.

The other day I had a lot of time on my hands which is not a good thing so I came up with this description of lollapalooza.  You know how the call marijuana a gateway drug? Well I would call lollapalooza my gateway drug and since im attending a million music events this summer I would call these extra music evens hard core drugs such as crack cocaine.  Like this is what i told my dad to validate spending so much money on a HEALTHY addiction.  And as a social worker I encourage healthy addictions!

I guess I should add something musical to this post since it is a music blog........................

Just my luck another past performance that I LOVE right now.  Look at that beautiful lollapalooza day!

'Til morning comes, let's tessellate

Emily decided to send me a cover of an Alt-J song by Mumford & Sons

As I was listening to the lyrics, I hear "Triangles are my favorite shape. Three points where two lines meet" I was struck by awe in the absolute mathematical ways of this band and being the nerd I am, I loved every second. This prompted me to actually sit down and listen to Alt-J which I am glad I did. Fitzpleasure was a bad representation of what they really are. Tessellate is such a beautiful song with a quirky beat to it. Here's their original.

I'm now listening to their entire album. Can't wait to see them live in 108 days!

Enteraintment- Why you keep pretending you wanna let go

What a great day! First I have the day off AND Phoenix released their new single today.  Life can't get any better.  Phoenix was probably one of the best conners at Lollapalooza due to the unusual people Jeana and I stood near.  I mean its not everyday that you are waiting for the band to come on stage and feel a warm liquid touch your feet and realize that someone is peeing on you.  Or almost have to take life saving measures to help a girl who had someone fall on her head.  Oh lollapalooza never a dull moment.................

165 days or 5 months 14 days 15 hours 15 minutes and 19 seconds until the best weekend ever.

I bought it in a can, and stirred it with my finger

I have had no snow and therefore have had no time for snow blog posts. I've actually been working very weird hours lately so I'm all out of wack.

In response to Jeana's post below about Dr. Dog, this promted me to post a favorite song of mine.

This is a cover song, and I love the original version by Architecture in Helsinki and the original song holds a special place in my heart from freshman year at QU. I'm always torn when deciding which version I like best, because both are SO good.

Dr. Dog- Heart it Races (Architecture in Helsinki cover)

Where did all the shadow people go?

Well, since we have yet another snow day, I've filled my morning with searching for concerts. Emily and I have decided to follow The Black Keys to North Carolina this summer and then venture to Nashville in search of Jack White. After letting Emily leave for work, I kept researching different bands and I found out that The Lumineers are going to be in Camden, NJ in July for this festival with Dr. Dog. I've never heard of Dr. Dog so I decided to google them and the first song I listened to was good. Turns out Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys was somehow involved with the song. Talk about fate. Now, I'm spending my afternoon listening to them and baking brownies and cupcakes.

Here's their song Shadow People, which apparently was written in the band's West Philly apartment.

That a Broken Heart is Blind

After last nights amazing Grammy performance by The Black Keys I obviously have non stopped listened to their music today.  I was very shocked to see that they chose to perform Lonely Boy which was there first single off El Camino.  Jeana and I for days were speculating which song they would perform. We literally were crossing our fingers for their more recent single Little Black Submarine.  But Lonely Boy was a nice throw back track and they changed it up a little.  Anyways after listening to LBS for like the hundredth time today i started to pay more attention to the lyrics. I interpret LBS to be about depression.  Since I have OCD i obviously did research on the song and Dan Auerbach states that the songs on El Camino have no meaning which i found to be so interesting.  I guess it's up to the listener to interpret it how they want.

Finally being productive...

Well, it's been almost 4 days of me doing absolutely nothing and I've loved every second of it. It's like the February vacation we don't get haha. But anyway, I hope everyone enjoyed the Grammys. They were great. I'm going to follow in Emily's footsteps and do my top 5 songs from a movie because I've watched numerous  movies the past 4 days.

1. Vagabond by Wolfmother (500 Days of Summer) I will never get tired of this song or this movie really. I watched it the other day for the first time in a year or two. Such a girl crush on Zooey Deschanel it's not even funny.

2. Cold by Aqualung and Lucy Schwartz (Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn) A little embarrassing that this song comes from Twilight but you know what, who cares? Those movies are definitely guilty pleasures. #TeamEdward But really, this song is hauntingly beautiful. That's the only way I can describe it.

3. Fair by Remy Zero (Garden State) My #1 all-time favorite movie and soundtrack. This soundtrack is the best thing that ever happened. It was hard to pick just one but this song reminds me of the part where Natalie Portman starts dancing in front of the fire and it makes me happy. I'm probably going to go watch this movie now.

4. Needle in the Hay by Elliot Smith (The Royal Tenenbaums) The choices are becoming more difficult, but I love Wes Anderson films and this song is a bit depressing, to say the least.

5. Valerie by Mark Ronson and Amy Winehouse (The Five-Year Engagement) I had to pick a song from this movie because it's hilarious and has my main man Jason Segel <3 The soundtrack isn't that great but that's okay.

I know there's more songs from movies that I love, but I'm drawing a blank at the moment. Enjoy these songs on a freezing rainy Monday morning.

Grammy Pre game

It's finally the day of the GRAMMYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My favorite people in the whole wide world are performing tonight as well as nominated for multiple awards!  I hope they each win awards or also I'll have to call the grammy voting process fake and say that some other band paid the grammy voters to vote for them.

Snow day tomorrow = blogging

Since school has finally been cancelled and I can stay awake past 9pm for once this week, I decided to post a song that I've been hearing on the radio for the past month or two that I am obsessed with. They have Phoenix like beats with a rougher voice. A perfect combination

Everyone be safe during this blizzard. I'm going to take the day (or two) to read and do nothing school related

I'm floating down a river

Went to yoga tonight at a new studio next to my apartment and they play music which is nice cause normally places don't do that. My yoga instructor played a song that took me so far back that I almost started freaking out but that would have been inappropriate in a yoga class.

Namaste,
